Overview

Angry Birds World is a theme park at Doha Festival City in Umm Salal, built around the characters from Rovio’s Angry Birds games and films. When it opened in 2018 it was promoted as the world’s first Angry Birds theme park, and it is still operating under the same name in 2026. It covers about 17,000 square metres, split between an indoor hall and an outdoor section, with more than 20 rides and attractions and over 70 arcade and redemption games.

It is aimed squarely at families with children of roughly three to twelve, with enough on the outdoor side, including go-karts, a coaster and the Super Slingshot, to keep older children and parents interested. Unlike Doha Quest, it does not work on a single day ticket: you load credit onto a play card and spend it ride by ride, which suits short visits and younger children who only want a few favourites.

This guide explains how the card system works, what is indoors and outdoors, when the outdoor rides open and how to combine a visit with Snow Dunes in the same mall.

The story behind Angry Birds World

Angry Birds World opened on 21 June 2018 at Doha Festival City, according to Attractions Management. It was developed by the Qatar-based leisure operator Trimoo, with backing from Talal bin Mohamed Trading, under a licence from Rovio, the Finnish company behind Angry Birds. Visit Qatar describes it as the world’s first Angry Birds-inspired theme park, with around 6,500 square metres of its footprint indoors.

The split layout is what makes it work in Qatar’s climate. The indoor hall means there is something to do even at the height of summer, while the outdoor rides come into their own on winter evenings. A year later, Trimoo opened Snow Dunes in the same mall, turning this corner of Doha Festival City into a small cluster of family attractions.

What to see and do

  1. Super Slingshot

The park’s signature outdoor thrill launches riders into the air, in the spirit of the catapult in the original game. It is the ride teenagers and adults come for, and it carries the strictest height and health restrictions in the park. Check the board at the entrance before you queue.

  2. Angry Birds Go! karts and Angry Coaster

Outside, the Angry Birds Go! go-kart track is themed on the racing spin-off game, and the Angry Coaster is the park’s roller coaster. Both are popular with children who are moving on from kiddie rides, but check the height boards first.

  3. Pirate Coast and Raft Battle

Pirate Coast is a boat-themed bumper ride, while Raft Battle is a water attraction where you can expect to get splashed. Other outdoor rides include Red Alert, Flock Caravan, Hatchlings and a kiddy ride for the smallest visitors.

  4. Own the Sky zip line and ropes

Own the Sky is the zip line, part of a ropes and climbing area. It is popular with confident children who like to move rather than sit on rides.

  5. Trampoline Universe and indoor rides

Indoors, Trampoline Universe is a large trampoline area that Qatar Living puts at around 1,300 square metres. Nearby you will find Bouncing Blues, a gentle flying ride, Blast Bomb, a compact drop tower, and City Studio. There is also a day care area for younger children; ask the park about current ages and conditions.

  6. Arcade and redemption games

More than 70 arcade and redemption games fill the indoor hall. They are fun, but they are also the quickest way to empty a play card, so agree a budget with children before you start.

How the play cards work

Instead of a single entry ticket, Angry Birds World uses personal play cards. You buy a kids or adult card, load credit and tap in at each ride or game. The official website also lists an Ultimate Flock Pass for families, a weekly Funtastic Monday offer and top-up bonuses where larger top-ups earn extra credit. Card prices and what they include have changed several times, and different sources quote different figures, so check the official website or ask at the desk for today’s prices. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult, and ticket sales are generally non-refundable.

If your children only want a handful of rides, a modest top-up is enough. For a full afternoon on the outdoor rides plus trampolines, a family pass usually works out better value.

How to get there

Angry Birds World is inside Doha Festival City on Al Shamal Road in Al Kheesa, Umm Salal, about 24 km north of central Doha. Qatar Living places it near the South Food Court in the South Court area of the mall. Driving takes around 25 to 40 minutes from West Bay or Msheireb, on fast paved highway, and there are large free car parks. No 4×4 is needed.

There is no metro station at the mall, so most people drive or take a Karwa taxi or ride-hailing car. If you want to use public transport, check current Mowasalat bus routes and any shuttle links before you set off.

Best time to visit

The official website lists these hours: Sunday to Wednesday 12pm to 10pm, Thursday 12pm to midnight, Friday 1pm to midnight and Saturday 10am to 10pm. Ticket listings show the outdoor rides opening later, from 3pm, which makes sense given the heat. Hours can change during Ramadan, Eid and school holidays.

  • November to March: the best time for the outdoor rides, especially after sunset.
  • Summer: stick mostly to the indoor hall, and save the outdoor rides for after dark.
  • Quietest: weekday afternoons during school term, and Mondays if you want the Funtastic Monday offer.
  • Busiest: Thursday and Friday evenings, weekends and Eid.

Tips for your visit

  • Check minimum heights at each ride before you load credit. Qatar Living lists limits ranging from around 70 cm for the smallest rides to 120 cm for Own the Sky and City Studio.
  • Arrive in the early afternoon for the indoor rides, then move outside when the outdoor section opens.
  • Wear closed-toe shoes for the karts, trampolines and ropes.
  • Pack a change of clothes if your children plan to ride Raft Battle.
  • Travel light: Qatar Living notes there are no lockers.
  • Set an arcade budget in advance; credit goes fast on redemption games.
  • Outside food is not permitted, but the mall has plenty of food courts and restaurants.
  • Keep the card: personal cards can be reloaded for future visits, but ask at the desk about current validity rules.
Insider tip: Pair Angry Birds World with Snow Dunes for a full day. Go to the snow park first while children are fresh, warm up over lunch in the mall, then head to Angry Birds World mid-afternoon so you are ready when the outdoor rides open.

What to bring

  • Closed-toe trainers
  • A change of clothes for water rides
  • Socks for the trampolines (check current rules on arrival)
  • Water bottles for the walk around the outdoor section
  • Sun hat and sunscreen for daytime outdoor visits
