Gate 2, Doha Oasis, Al Khaleej Street, Msheireb, Doha
Overview
Doha Quest is Qatar’s big indoor theme park, built into the Doha Oasis development on Al Khaleej Street in Msheireb, a few minutes from Souq Waqif. It covers roughly 32,000 square metres under one roof, with more than 30 rides and attractions spread across three themed zones. The headline acts are two record holders: the EpiQ Coaster and the Magma Blast drop tower, both certified by Guinness World Records as the tallest of their kind indoors.
The biggest selling point is simple: it is air-conditioned. When Doha sits in the mid-40s for months on end, a full afternoon of rides without breaking a sweat is worth a lot, which is why the park fills up in summer and during school holidays. It works well for families with children aged roughly six and up, for teenagers chasing big thrills, and for adults who want a proper coaster without flying to Abu Dhabi.
It is not a cheap afternoon, and younger children will not be tall enough for the headline rides, so it pays to know what you are buying before you go. This guide covers the zones, the record rides, tickets, getting there by metro or car, and how to plan a visit around the rest of central Doha.
The story behind Doha Quest
Doha Quest sits inside Doha Oasis, a mixed-use project on the edge of Msheireb that combines a five-star hotel (Banyan Tree Doha), a department store (Printemps Doha), a cinema, restaurants and leisure venues. The theme park took up the lower levels and became Qatar’s first large indoor theme park when it opened in 2021. You will see it called both Quest and Doha Quest.
The park’s signature coaster was built by the US manufacturer Premier Rides and opened in late September 2021, according to industry outlet Theme Park Insider. Engineering it was no small job: the ride had to fit beneath a large roof garden that needed heavy supporting structures, which shaped how the track twists through the building.
A few weeks later, the park’s two biggest rides were measured for Guinness World Records. Guinness lists the EpiQ Coaster as the tallest indoor roller coaster at 56.736 metres, achieved on 18 October 2021. Gulf Times reported that Magma Blast took the record for the tallest indoor drop tower ride at 56.409 metres. In 2024 the park added iFLY Quest, an indoor skydiving wind tunnel that is booked and paid for separately.
The park is themed as a journey through time. Oryxville draws on Arabian heritage and the past, City of Imagination represents the present, and Gravity is the futuristic zone where the biggest thrill rides live.
What to see and do
EpiQ Coaster
This is the reason many people come. The EpiQ Coaster is a launched coaster that fires you backwards and up a twisted vertical spike close to the roof, then sends you through inversions including a zero-g roll and a corkscrew. The ride is short and intense, and the queue moves at the pace of a single train, so ride it early if you can. It sits in the Gravity zone and is themed as a solar-powered vessel, with projection effects in the vertical tunnel section.
Like all major thrill rides, it carries height, age and health restrictions. These are posted at the ride entrance, and staff enforce them strictly, so check before you promise a child a turn.
Magma Blast drop tower
Magma Blast lifts riders to the top of the building and drops them back down. It holds the Guinness title for the tallest indoor drop tower ride. If you have done outdoor drop towers, the difference here is that you cannot see the horizon, which makes the sense of height oddly harder to judge. Again, check the posted height limit at the entrance.
More thrill rides
Beyond the two record rides, the park has more spinning and swinging attractions, including Gravity Swing, Aero Flip and Time Tumbler. These are where teenagers tend to spend most of their day. Expect motion that is rough on stomachs: space out the spinners and eat after, not before.
Family rides and simulators
Away from the biggest thrills, the park mixes family rides such as Spike’s Astro Tower with simulators and screen-based attractions. Look out for the Legend of the Golden Oryx 3D simulator, which nods to Qatar’s heritage, Wings of Destiny, a 3D flying theatre, and VR stations such as VR Fun Racer. These gentler attractions are where younger children will spend most of their time.
iFLY Quest indoor skydiving
iFLY Quest is a vertical wind tunnel inside the park where an instructor takes you through a short flight. Gulf Times described it as a Gen 9 tunnel suited to beginners as well as experienced flyers. It is not included in a standard park ticket. Ticket resellers list a minimum age of three and a minimum height of 100 cm, but confirm the current rules and prices with the park when you book.
Food, shopping and the rest of Doha Oasis
Planet Hollywood is the best-known restaurant attached to the park, and there is a souvenir shop, Time Quest. Outside food is not allowed into the park. Doha Oasis itself has more than 20 restaurants, a cinema, bowling and indoor padel, so it is easy to make an evening of it after the rides close.
How to get there
Doha Quest is at Gate 2 of Doha Oasis, on Al Khaleej Street in Msheireb, central Doha. From West Bay it is about a 15-minute drive in normal traffic; from the airport, allow around 20 minutes. Doha Oasis has its own car park, and signage directs you to the theme park entrance.
By metro, Visit Qatar points visitors to Msheireb or Al Bidda stations. Msheireb is the interchange for all three Doha Metro lines (Red, Green and Gold), which makes it the easiest choice from most parts of the city. From either station it is a short walk or a quick taxi hop, but in summer even ten minutes on foot can feel long, so many families take a Karwa taxi or ride-hailing car for the last stretch.
No 4×4 is needed: this is a city-centre trip on paved roads. Most visitors simply buy tickets online in advance and turn up.
Best time to visit
Because the park is indoors, the season matters less than the day and time. The park opens from 2pm to 10pm, Monday to Saturday, and is closed on Sundays, according to Visit Qatar and the official ticket listing. Hours can change during school holidays, Ramadan and Eid, so check before you go.
- Quietest: weekday afternoons at opening time during term.
- Busiest: Thursday and Friday evenings, Saturdays, Eid and the summer and winter school holidays.
- Summer: the park is a popular escape from the heat, so book ahead for July and August.
- Winter: combine it with an evening at Souq Waqif or a walk through Msheireb when it is pleasant outside.
Tickets and prices
At the time of writing, the official ticket listing shows a full-day general admission of QAR 235 for anyone aged 13 and over and QAR 160 for children aged 4 to 12, with children under three entering free. The ticket covers unlimited rides and attractions plus a locker. It does not include food and drinks, redemption games or iFLY Quest. Tickets are valid only for the date you choose and cannot be cancelled or changed, so book once your plans are firm. Combo deals with other attractions appear from time to time on the official ticketing partner.
Children aged 12 and under must be accompanied by a paying adult aged at least 18, and government-issued photo ID is required to verify ages.
Tips for your visit
- Arrive at 2pm and head straight for the EpiQ Coaster and Magma Blast before the queues build.
- Check the height boards at each ride before you buy a child ticket, especially if your child is small for their age.
- Bring ID for every adult and teenager in your group; age-based tickets are checked.
- Wear closed-toe shoes and leave hats, loose sunglasses and dangling jewellery in the locker.
- Eat after the big rides, not before.
- Some rides close for maintenance without notice, so do not plan the whole visit around a single attraction.
- Budget extra for food, arcade-style redemption games and iFLY, which are not in the standard ticket.
- Wheelchair and pushchair access is reported by ticket sellers; ask the park about individual ride access for visitors with disabilities.
What to bring
- Photo ID for every adult and teenager
- Closed-toe trainers
- A light layer, as the air conditioning is strong
- A small bag that fits the lockers
- Printed or mobile tickets
Combine it with nearby places
Msheireb Downtown Doha is right next door. Its shaded lanes, cafés and public art are pleasant on a winter evening after the park closes.
Msheireb Museums are four restored heritage houses that tell the story of old Doha. They are an easy walk from Doha Oasis and a calm contrast to the rides.
Souq Waqif and its Falcon Souq are a few minutes away by car, perfect for dinner and a wander once the heat fades.
The Museum of Islamic Art sits on the Corniche nearby, and its park is a great spot for sunset views of the West Bay skyline.
The Msheireb tram loops around the district for free, which younger children often enjoy as much as the rides.
